Railway efficiency: the role of project management

Successful railway projects transform digital solutions into competitive advantages for operators and customers. Here's how we do it.
Delivery Team Leaders.
After exploring the strategic vision in 2024 e i 2024 tech trends, for 2026 we have chosen to interview those who translate strategies into concrete results.

Our Delivery Team Leaders, Erika Tagliaferri and Davide Cornelli, play a key role in ensuring that every software implementation brings real value in terms of efficiency, safety and operational continuity. In this interview, our DTLs talk about the challenges, opportunities and impact of their work.

"Our team has in-depth knowledge of the railway world, understanding its daily routine, challenges and language. This is why we approach operators as partners, not just suppliers."

How does the Delivery team improve railway operations?

In-depth knowledge of the railway industry

Over time, our team has developed in-depth knowledge of the operational flows and processes of the railway industry. This allows us to quickly understand the customer’s context, speak the same language as operators and provide concrete and applicable answers, fostering a collaborative relationship that aspires to be that of a partner and goes beyond the role of a simple supplier.

Information traceability

We provide systems that enable data to be collected, stored and consulted reliably over time, making it available for analysis, regulatory checks and operational decision support. Information traceability reduces ambiguity, errors and loss of context, increasing process control and security.

Automation of repetitive tasks

We work on automating repetitive and manual tasks, simplifying daily workflows and reducing the operational burden on end users. This allows operators to save time, increase efficiency and focus on higher value activities.

There have been internal changes over the past year. In your opinion, which new development will have the greatest impact on project efficiency and quality?
Over the past year, we have strengthened our testing department and related processes. This allows us to identify critical issues at an earlier stage and progressively improve the quality and stability of releases.

At the same time, the new division of roles within the Delivery area is designed to lead to better control of project progress, greater clarity on responsibilities and more effective management of priorities over time.

The aim of this structure is twofold: to improve internal efficiency and to bring us closer to the customer, ensuring more structured, frequent and continuous communication, with constant checks both during the project phases and in operations.

Looking ahead to 2026, what challenges do you foresee for your team and what strategies will you adopt to address them?
When considering the challenges of 2026, the main one will be to grow the Delivery team in a structured and sustainable way, maintaining the usual quality we have demonstrated over the years, but at the same time ensuring the right flexibility and balance between operations and business strategy. We plan to add several people to our team throughout the year. The first hires will arrive in Q1, so the challenge is already very real.

Through the reorganisation we are putting together in recent months and continuous training of new hires in the Delivery team, the goal is to support the company’s growth without losing effectiveness in day-to-day operations.

From guidelines to concrete solutions

“The Delivery team transforms the guidelines set by Management – from the UX/UI renewal of all our products to new features and AI experimentation – into concrete, reliable solutions focused on the user experience.

Together, we define work priorities and project planning that can satisfy both customer needs and corporate strategy. In this way, the Delivery Team is not just about execution, but also promotes sustainable growth and innovation.”

Building value for railway operators, one project at a time

The Delivery Team plays a key role in connecting the company’s strategic vision with real value for customers and the market. How? Through structured processes, in-depth knowledge of the railway sector and continuous dialogue with operators.

At Binary System, we aim to build lasting efficiency that supports our customers’ growth.

"Without the essential work of Delivery, strategy remains just an intention; with Delivery, it becomes real value for end users."
